Cooperative movement throughout the world born out of the failure of Market and State and people always united to ease some of their economic problems through institutional mechanism where they can exercise their   control over the capital and its usage. Cooperative is unique which is Owner Controlled and User Driven Institution. this uniqueness posed greater challenges in managing the interests of both Owner – User. Hence Government of India and Reserve Bank of India felt the need to equip the personnel working in the cooperatives with the managerial capabilities and started Cooperative Training Centres throughout the country.

The Regional Institute of Cooperative Management, Bengaluru (RICMB) is one among the 20 training units established by National Council for Cooperative Training, New Delhi (NCCT) an autonomous society promoted by the Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India. RICMB was started in the year 1962 initially to serve the cooperative training requirements of the then Mysore and  Kerala States. During the year 1995 the NCCT upgraded the institute to the present status and RICMB now serves the training requirements of Southern States. RICMB has been contributing over the years to the Cooperative Movement through its activities viz. Management Training, Management Education, Research, Consultancy, and other related activities. RICMB is recognised by SEBI, C-PEC and other organisations for conducting training programmes. The department of Cooperation, Government of Karnataka recognised RICMB as one of the nodal institutions to conduct the recruitment examination.

RICMB is conveniently located in the centre of the city with multimode transport access. RICMB has expanded over the decades with the adequate infrastructure as a part of the Institution’s commitment to provide higher quality education in Management Studies. The green ambience of RICMB provides an eco-system for creativity and learning. RICMB is known for its academic excellence, friendly welcoming atmosphere and community spirit. It is a centre of talented, experienced teachers, who inspire and energize the students to achieve their best. Apart from providing core inputs related to the MBA the students are also exposed to inter-disciplinary area. Added to this the students will be trained to increase their competence in communication skills, reasoning skills, critical, creative, thinking capabilities and a capacity to drive for continuous self learning towards individual development.
